JOHANNA LEHESVUORI, soprano from Finland, received her Master of Music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (spring 2015), and then continued her studies there under a scholarship in 2015-2016. Before her studies in Stockholm Lehesvuori graduated as a vocal teacher from Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences in 2010. She has been taught by Raija Kemppainen (Pori), Marianne Tunkkari (Kokkola), Marjut Hannula (Helsinki), Petteri Salomaa (Stockholm), and Christina Billing (Stockholm). Currently she is working with Monika Hauswalter (Estonia). Lehesvuori has studied Italian opera repertoire with conductor Simone Marziali (Florence, 2017-18), tenor David Rendall (Milan2018-19)) and conductor Massimo Morelli (Lucca, 2018, 2023, 2024).

Lehesvuori is a sought after performer in Finland and abroad. She has performed as a soloist with various choirs and orchestras (for example with Vaasa City Orchestra, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Se Ensemble, Stockholm Royal College of Music String Orchestra, Pori Sinfonietta, Vantaa Entertainment Orchestra..), and she has given many lied recitals. Lehesvuori has worked in several opera productions in Finland, Sweden, Italy, Denmark and Luxembourg since 2006 (for example in Finnish National Opera, Kokkola Opera, Sellosali productions, Tornedalsteater (Sweden), Teatro di san Girolamo (Italy), Grand Théâtre Luxembourg (Luxembourg), Royal Danish Opera (Denmark), Estonian National Opera (Estonia)…). She has also worked in musicals in three different professional theaters as a singer-actress.

Lehesvuori made her debut in Finnish National opera in spring 2017 in Melartin’s opera Aino, after which she’s regularly received roles in different productions (season 2024-25 Meg Giry (The Phantom of the Opera), Maija Harri (Pohjalaisia, Hanna Glavari (Die Lustige Witwe). In summer 2018 Lehesvuori made her debut in Italy in Puccini’s Suor Angelica singing the leading role in Puccini’s hometown Lucca.

Lehesvuori and pianist Jenna Ristilä were finalists in the Helsinki Lied Competition in 2015. Lehesvuori were also finalist in the PLMF Nordic-Baltic Vocal Competition in Tallinn during spring 2017. Lehesvuori won the 3rd prize in Kangasniemi Singing competition in 2017.

Lehesvuori’s debut album ”Light of Christmas” was released in November 2014. The recording received praise from critics and listeners alike. She has been recorded Beethoven’s songs for Naxos with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Leif Segerstam in 2018.

Johanna Lehesvuori has received support from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Pro Opera ry., Finnish National Opera, Alfred Kordelin Foundation, The Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm, The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Arts Promotion  Centre Finland and Central Ostrobothnia Foundation.
